Sygic based GPS : Teleatlas McGuider 2009 - A User Review
Posté le 16 mars 2009 à 16:45:00 par gpspassion. EN - Software

Updated March 16th, 2009
A new year a new version, this goes for the TeleAtlas McGuider software too with the 2009 version now in store. Longtime forum member igalan from Spain upgraded his 2008 version after giving Navigon MN|7 a try and passing due to usability issues.

While he was disappointed to find that the 2009 version uses TeleAtlas 2008 maps, he enjoyed the new additions to this version, built-in speedcam warnings and detailed roadsigns for precise guidance. The software is still locked to a memory card but it's now 4Gb in size versus 2Gb and there is a lot of room to spare. Join the [TOPIC] McGuider 2009 - User Reviews topic of the "PDA Navigation Software" for all the details.

Updated May 28th, 2008 - More good news for fans of PDA or Smartphone based GPS navigation with the availability of TeleAtlas McGuider with a European and North American version. The software is based on the Sygic GPS Engine that's been used on various B2B solutions and is compatible out of the box with Windows Mobile PDAs, Smartphones and PDAPhones and Nokia Smartphones. The price is right at €79 for full continental coverage provided on...

... a 2Gb microSD card and miniSD and SD adapters.

We have a first report from the road by igalan in this topic of the "PDA Navigation Software" and he quite liked what he saw, a rich graphic interface reminiscent of TomTom Navigator and an elaborate map display but he did see some odd routes in Barcelona.

Posted April 23rd, 2008 - Archos launched their first GPS enabled PMP (Portable Media Player), the Archos 605 GPS, at a press conference in Paris on April 22nd. Unlike the AIOs by Garmin and TomTom we're familiar with, the GPS receiver is external and located in the car mount. While this may not be a very sleek solution, it allows Archos to offer GPS functionality either as an option for $99 in the US (€99 in Europe) or as a full bundle for $399 (€399 in Europe)......

Quick facts : external GPS receiver in car holder - navigation software by Sygic - High resolution 800x480 4.3" screen - TeleAtlas Maps - TMC Traffic Information Receiver

You'll find more comments and pictures as well as a report on yesterday's presentation in this article in the "GPS and Mobile News" section of the forums.
