Although the Zumo 660, a widescreen GPS designed for bikers, was announced in early Januray it still isn't available, but thanks to forum regular SergZak we can peruse through its full manual hosted on the FCC's site (it has Bluetooth inside).

A first analysis shows that Garmin are still keeping us busy with their "feature peppering" approach, i.e. having exclusive features on some models and no high-end model with all the features...The new features are : route preview, and elevation chart for the logged tracks. You can use Zumo 660 - Widescreen motorcycle navigator topic of the "Garmin Advanced Navigation Systems" forums to discuss.

Updated March 17th, 2007 - Released at the end of last year, the Zumo seems to have done well on the market in spite of its price tag, an issue the zumo 450 announced at the CeBIT show should partially fix. Garmin have been releasing updates, the lastest being...

... v3.20 with some interesting features such as track log archives and if you own a Harley, you will likely find this installation guide useful.

Updated December 8th, 2006 - Those who keep an eye on "GpsPasSion Live" (www.NaviBlog.com) will have noticed that the Garmin zumo 550 has come in for testing in the "GpsPasSion Labs". After spending a couple of days with it on the road, we have some first comments and pictures of Garmin's first dedicated biker GPS that doubles up as a full featured car GPS thanks to the amplified holder. Head out to the [TOPIC] Garmin Zumo 550 for Bikers in the forums...... for more. It is available for purchase at longtime site partner Semsons.

Updated September 15th - PART II, click here, of the report on the Navteq event in Paris yesterday is up and you can catch close-up pictures of the zumo's hardware and user interface, including the much anticipated "route" feature return on Garmin AIOs......Updated 07/19/2006 - After some "hybrid" co-branded GPS systems for Bikers, the SP2620/BMA, the Quest2/Harley, Garmin are launching a dedicated GPS, the zūmo 550.On offer : SiRFstarIII, Bluetooth Handsfree, amplified car holder, traficinformation via RDS or XM, IPX7 grade, $1,076 MSRP...You can use this thread started by RFtinkerer to discuss....

...

Posted 05/23/2005 - Garmin and Harley Davidson have come up with the Roadtech Quest navigation solution that will be available on the Road Glide and Electra Glide models...

This HAD to be a widescreen news item !...
Some might argue that the open road will lose some of its mysteries with such a device on board, but the Quest has certainly done anything it could to blend in ;-)
