Over the years, many of the GPS related programs offered in the "Beta" GPS software have been mentioned in the news on the portal but we didn't have a dedicated news item so here it comes.
Among the latest entries we have BikeDashboard by mgardere, an app for Windows Mobile devices dedicated to...cycling as its name indicates. It also comes with PC companion software to drill in to your outing or your performance. Other favorites of the Beta section include mdeweerd's BT747 for dataloggers, Noni's NoniGPSPlot, jaluna's PortSplitter, etc...download, test and enjoy them all!
Updated October 21st, 2004 - After SmartGPX that offered data download from the GPSmart, with GPXsmart it is now possible to upload data towards the Fortuna GPSMart, a much requested feature...

When it was announced in late 2002, the Fortuna GPSmart looked like it could be the "ultimate" GPS receiver with its large screen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, built-in memory for 30,000 points, etc......The detailed review showed it was a unique device, but that its prototype feel and modest battery life didn't help and most important, it wasn't possible to export and analyze recorded tracks and waypoints. This is the limitation that site visitor Deejay's SmartGPX tries to overcome.
