Updated February 6th, 2009 Consumer desktop mapping applications like MS Streets and Trips/Autoroute or Route 66 have been severly impacted by the universal appeal of online mapping from Google Maps and to a lesser extent from MS Live, but professional systems like MS Mappoint keep an edge with their full feature set.
In addition to serving as a copilot, Mappoint can be used to create sales territories, visualize performances and share them via Office applications. Give it a try with the downloadable 60 day free trial of the European version and you can use the MapPoint 2009 European maps - Free Trial topic in the "MS Streets and Trips, AutoRoute, and MapPoint" forums to discuss.

... Starting with a 3D view but also automatic recalculation if you veer off-route. More unexpected are the optional "connected services" provided via "MSN Direct" and its dedicated FM receiver, a feature only available on the high-end Garmin AIOs up to now.
Posted July 4th, 2004 Thanks to Marvin who shares the news of the upcoming release of Streets and Trips 2005. We've had new versions each year so this new version isn't unexpected, but more intriguing is a "GPS Locator" version sold with...a GPS...
...The question is whether this version is simply a software/hardware bundle or whether Microsoft have added some "navigation" features to S&T, such as visual and vocal guidance. Judging by the respective retail prices of $35 and $105, it's probably the former if the current price of full navigation solutions is anything to go by.
