| GPS Software - iGuidance 2009 for PDAs with Navteq Q4/2008 - Shipping |
Posté le 09 février 2009 à 13:54:00 par gpspassion. EN - Software Source : Gpspassion
Updated February 9th, 2009 After a long wait and several postponments, iGuidance 2009 for PDAs/Smartphones is now shipping. It comes with new maps of course (claimed to be Navteq Q4/2008) but "Traffc Pattern", the main new feature was removed due to a "licensing issue". We have a first user report by netboy in the iGuidance 2009 for PCs, PDAs - Available! topic of the "PDA Navigation Software" forums.
Updated July 28th, 2008 - It's that time of the year again and iGuidance are getting ready to release a new version of their "forum acclaimed" software, in addition to the long overdue v4.02 update. With many of the competition from the early PocketPC days gone (Pharos, Destinator, PocketMap, Teletype, etc...), iGuidance have probably been able to stay afloat thanks to their multi-platform offering, software for PDAs and for Laptops. Unfortunately with the forthcoming iGuidance 2009 they will now be selling them separately...
...
The features of the 2009 PDA version are still "TBD", but the laptop version boasts several interesting additions : new Navteq 2008 maps, updated graphics, 3D views of intersections (think Navigon Reality View and TomTom ALG) and Traffic pattern, a feature premiered on the iNav v3 last year with mixed results. There is some concern among forum members that the PDA version will be locked to the 2Gb card it ships on, preventing use on larger card or on PDA with no microSD slot like the HTC Diamond. You can use this topic of the "GPS and Mobile News" forums to discuss.
Updated December 14th, 2007 - iGuidance by iNav remains a favorite among PDA/PDAPhone users but it is also one of the true "GPS Assisted Guidance" solutions on Windows powered laptops or UMPCs. There is good news... ... for Apple Mac users though with the latest generation of Mac devices now handling seamlessly windows applications. This is what Paul did on his Macbook Core2 Duo with Parallels and you can read his full review of iGuidance in the "Laptop GPS" Forums.
Updated June 20th, 2007 - Pretty much on schedule with the anticipated June 15th date, iGuidance v4 is available for pre-order (10% for GpsPasSion Club members) and Marvin has prepared a preview of what's new and improved. New Maps (Navteq Q3/2006 in their first appearance), more POIs, TTS (Text to Speech) and...product activation that will hopefully limit unauthorized use...

More details and screenshots in this thread of the "News" forums.
Updated May 21st, 2007 - iGuidance v4 is around the corner and will be available in time for the summer trips. The software has matured since I first used it at the tail end of 2002 but they are still adding useful features to enrich the user experience, such as TTS (Text to speech) for more accurate guidance. Read about the other changes in store with this new version in...
... this thread of the "News" forums.
Updated June 10th, 2006 - A bit of a surprise today with the first pictures of iGuidance v3, a favorite among forum members since it first appeared in early 2003. It uses the Intellinav platform developed by Netropa, as Routis and Prymenav once did and as Dell and HP still do. News features include multiple stop routes, a stats module, a UMPC optimized version (a first) and a more "eye-candy" GUI......, you can use this thread of the news forums to discuss and if you have questions about pre-ordering, you can ask Semsons in their forums.
Updated 11/15/2005 - iNav (website) have just released version 2.1.3 of iGuidance for North America that adds compatibility with Windows Mobile 5.0 (aka WM5.0) while existing users upgrading to that new platform can download a patch to continue enjoying GPS assisted navigation with iGuidance, a finalist of the recent PocketPC Magazine awards. You can catch up with this thread to discuss v2.1.3....
Posted 03/15/05 Seems like it was just yesterday that v2.0 came out and now comes v2.1! You can read about the new features and the upgrade program >>HERE<< in the iGuidance forums on the site. Not to be oudone, we already have a review of the laptop version of v2.1, notable for some new skins and full coverage of Canada and Marvin who lives there thinks it's the best coverage he's seen to date in a a mapping application. Paul is sharing his thoughts on the PDA version of v2.1 ... with long distance routing being an option now !
Last but not least, v2.1 is available for pre-order from Semsons for $99 before the 10% GpsPasSion Club discount.
Posted 06/12/04 iNav have just announced V2 of iGuidance, their navigation solution based on Netropa's Intellinav, as well as the details of the upgrade program for users of previous versions...
V2 has a host of new features (new 3D, geo features, extended POIs, etc...) that are reviewed here. The upgrade is free for purchases made after 03/01/04 and is priced at $49 for purchases made in the last 12 months.
You can discuss here in the iNav forums.
