hi all,i have just purchased the same model as garguy and all seems to be going well. However when i purchased the item it said it was sold without gps mapping, but when it arrived it did have european maps installed. problem being there are no poi's on the gps. i have turned them on in the settings but none show at all. the system has nav n go igo 8 8.3.2.80621 and maps are 2010 q1. it says i can update the maps at naviextras but i tried to join but my system is not listed. 1/is my mapping up to date? 2/ were can i get new mapping if not. 3/ why no poi's on my current mapping?. any help would be great as i am not very technically minded. apart from the poi's the system is great value for money, although i wish you could play your music files and see the navigation at the same time. thanks for any help.

Hi I have one of these units and are trying to install Skydemon gps software with no success. I cannot find out how to get to the windows type desktop and release all the uses it everyone discusses. When I load skydemon onto it the device says 'not gps software found' even changing the GPS path to the original path of Igo8.exe. Please help i have spent hours many evenings and my wife is getting annoyed with me spending so much time on it and not getting anywhere.
Cheers |

Well this probably is the CADILLAC of GPS's All is very high quality The big screen is easy to read and touch screen is responding very well I did not found any flaw yet. Here it is:

It came with IGO 8.0 working very well but i couldn't add any skins so... I added IGO 8.3 on the SD card and it is pretty easy to switch from one to the other by changing the navigation(GPS) path in the settings. It is also possible to launch any wince 5.0 application this way.

Here is IGO 8.3

After trying IGO 8.3, i added some skins like DIMKA skin This is pretty cool with the sky and the sun positionned right at the place it should be. also added cars instead of the arrow.

I also managed to install MioPocket 3.0 on it. I used the SD Install because i didn't dare to try the Flash install cause i was afraid to block the system. IF ANYONE DID IT PLEASE REPORT A complete flash install would be nicer because with the SD install it seems that whenever i restart it, the install is a new one and the preferences are gone.Like Internet Explorer Favorites for example.

The gps software are not included in miopocket but any navigation application you have can be dealed with in this window.

MioPocket is great on this device even if some application are not working for some still obscure reason but i work on it. I suspect that is because of the 800 X 480 screen resolution. A great deal of the applications are working very well and i even went on the internet with it while i was plugged with SYNC on my main computer. It should be much faster with a blutooth pairing but i didn't try it yet.
Here it is browsing on the NET

Anyway The unit is great The Samsung S3C2443X is probably one of the most reliable cpu for this kind of device. The FM transmitter sound is great The GPS is flawless and very accurate and very fast, it even works in the house at some spots. I didn't try the blutooth yet
The only disadvantage i find with it is that you must have a hell of a big pocket to put it in....
I LOVE MY NO NAME CHINESE GPS
If you have the same unit and want to develop on it, feel free to post here.
I have the same gps unit and cant seem to get miopocket installed on the unit. Could you please give me step by step instructions on how you got it on yours? |

Hi These units will interface fine with Windows Vista,,but will not be recognized by XP. Also i have had mine running Miopocket from the internal and also the external Micro Sd card. Lately i have been trying some newer tricks and have now screwed up the whole thing,,now i have to back track and find out what i did wrong. The main complaint i have with these units are the lack of a "Start" installer program for software. |
