| I compared the rom content of 310,312,314 and 316. Although they seam to be slightly different builds, all the 4 are perfectly identical, not a single byte difference between them. The conclusion is that you can use any of them on any device. The only difference between the 4 devices seams to be the "branding" data I talked about earlier... If this branding data is missing, OEM software will not run. |

| Guys, one good and one bad news. The good one is that I succeeded to write a tool able to restore that special "branding" data, which actually makes the difference between 310,312,314 and 316. This data is located in the invisible (reserved) part of nand, somewhere between eboot and logo... Bad news is that although this data was successfully written, OEM software still doesn't run! It stays in the restart-error cycle as before! |

Hi, ablbd! Thanks for eboot.nb0 ! I was in the same situation two years ago. I tried to recover my hp ipaq 316, but with no luck of course. I didn't have enough time for debugging/programming and I bought a second hand one. Now my bricked device is partialy alive. First of all, I've seen not working hp nav software, but I didn't ever use it and inserted my SD with MioPocket and was happy until the moment then I turned on bluetooth. It works in demo mode, because of bt devid FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF See screenshot at my ftp 89.108.67.121 log/pass ablbd+i-and-b.org/gpspassion (replace + with @) and old and new first 256k of flash made by bootblaster. Also I've found some roms/tools/progs/utils/etc on my hdd downloaded two year ago. Maybe it will be useful for you or somebody? I've tried ot run eboot via AtlasMgr but didn't see any options just logo on screen. And some progs cannot be installed via ActiveSync because of wrong OS type error. Please, help us, dear ablbd! :) If we won't win in war with hp ipaq, i'm ready to unsolder nandflash from working device and make a copy via programmator. But as variant I can have two bricked devices :) PS Just remembered. I've tried to connect nandflash with XD cardreader with wires, but also with no luck. |

Hi mazafaka2 You're right regarding BT. After reading (yesterday evening) your post, in about 1 hour I solved the BT issue in my unit :D
Bootblaster is NOT dumping eboot (at least not in ipaq's) but it contains what I called "branding" data. Ufortunately I didn't managed to log in ftp to see the dumps... Shortly, it looks like this: that "branding" data, among others, includes the BT device address, which must match with the registry value NetworkAddress, located in HKLM\comm\BTNIC1\Parms In case of any mismatch, BT manager will delete the whole "branding" part, except data regarding the operating system. As I mentioned before, I have written a small tool able to low-level write nand, which has "hard-coded" the block/page nand address where the "branding" data is located in ipaq. This tool requires 2 input files, extracted from the low-level dump used to recover eboot. In order to fix BT address, I cloned the branding data using this tool, then introduced the NetworkAddress according to cloned data so presently BT works fine. Most probably there is a similar procedure with OEM software, in which I am not interested too. Regarding this tool, I will pass it over after I fix an issue caused by nand construction: one givven page can be written only one time. If, for any reason, branding data is deleted, is ipossible to re-write it without deleting the full block. I managed to delete the block but for some reason doesn't want to write imediately after that, this is what I have to fix. Also the dumping tool will be public after a while. Presently it works fine on any SirfAtlas cpu (from atlasII to atlasIV), can recognise and handle any nand, it can dump NORs too. Now I'm working on SD dump, as some devices are booting from iNand (iNand actually is an on-board SD) and to make this tool work on CE6 too.
To your PS: NAND is not iNAND... You should have connected on-board nand to an SD controller and the output of SD controller to your card reader! |

ablbd you can dn files here http://turbobit.net/qcd630rp3kej.html See difference at offset 2c00. Has that information been deleted by pressing menu item 11 ? > In case of any mismatch, BT manager will delete the whole "branding" part i didn't understand. BT software can clear data directly in nandflash?? May I ask you some technical questions via e-mail 'cause I don't wanna flood in this thread and there is no PM on this forum? Or I can open forum on my site for conversation. My mail is gps_2^i-and-b.org |

I don't know but recovery via eboot is completely formating nand.

Yes, it can. Same is valid for original navi software. Any flashdrv.dll has functions (IOCTLs) for low-level Nand access but each OS developper implements it's own IOCTLs... that's why is better to not use them.

If your questions are related to ipaq then better ask here as the answers may be usefull for other readers too.

Hi all.
I was get out from the dust my iPaq TC310. I have a problem (I was delete all data through the Developer menu) and now I have a wonderful paperweight. I see some of the solutions in this post in order to re-animate it(mainly to reinstall the bin files or rom...) but all the links are on Megaupload (Rest In Peace).
Have somebody these roms to make sing my 310 another one time?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers!
Ludorf. |

ablbd, could you send me your tool for recovering BT service?
Something strange happened few days ago with my device. Now some progs cannot find gps on port 7 at all, some progs say 0 sats used of XX, but show XY coordinates without Z. GpsViewer in \Windows shows that all fine. So strange.
Added: Receiver doesn't support GPGSA — DOP (GPS). BeeLineGPS showed a warning about that. Any suggestions? |

Hello all! I'm posting as Ludorf_mad due to the impossibility to change my forgetted password.
ablbd: Thanks a lot man! Really the iPaq was resurrected and working with CE 5.0. At last free of HP software!
Your solution really works!. I will test this iPaq on the road at July with iGo 8.
EDIT: It's VERY IMPORTANT that the SD don't be more than 2Gb and to format that in FAT16. I had a 4 Gb in this iPaq and sometimes don't start from the SD slot. Now it start from SD without problems.
Can you suggest another one navigation software for this (better than iGo)?
Cheers!

Ludorf_mad, imho, the best is igo primo, especially custom packs. The second I use is Garmin, but much slower and sometimes crash occures. Can you try BeeLineGPS on your device? Select menu-gps-autodetect. What will it say? What color will be bars on first screen when fix will available, if it will be? |
