I'm trying to help my brother find his first house, so on weekends we would print out a listing of potential properties, and take my C330 with us as we navigate to the various locations.
The unit works great except for the fact that we can only enter one address then navigate to the location, then enter another and go there etc.

Even though the unit does a good job pinpointing the addresses, we waste a lot of gas and time. We would drive to one side of town and back to the other, only to go back across town again, a few blocks from our previous destination. If there was a way I can enter all the addresses and then have the unit navigate us to the locations in an order of proximity from each other that would be helpful. Does anyone know how I can do this without trading in my unit for one that has a waypoint feature ?

That's easy. I have an i5 which has a different UI but the concepts should be the same:

At home, search for your first address then start navigating. Then cancel the nav and enter your second address. Repeat this process for all your addresses. Then go into the "recent finds" area and you'll see all the addresses listed with distances, and they are all in order. Now when you are driving you can choose the next location which is closest.

My GPS only has 25 recent finds, so you may want to save all these as favorites to make sure they don't drop off the list. But the favorites screen is ordered by distance as well.

In the latest version of firmware, you now have Via points, meaning multiple destinations. It should sort for you -- at least the 2610 I have does. I'd assume the C320 would do that for you too. I like creativeguy's workaround!

Creativeguys workaround is very good.

Unfortunately the new c3x0 firmware only allows a single via point, cf the 2610, which I gather can organise the "milk-route" for you if you enter all the points.

Here's what I would do. I'd first find the addresses in MapSource and mark as Waypoints. Within Mapsource it would be easy to see at a glance a reasonable routing order (ie which house first, second etc). Quickly re-label the way points starting with 01 ... 02 ... 03. Then download these as a custom POI file to the device. Once you've see house #01 ... next up is #02 etc.

Thanks for the responses guys, I think I'll try Stevespowers suggestion first, seeing that it would be easier to enter all the destinations on a PC rather that on the unit. but if all else fails, I'll definitly try Creativeguys workaround which is a sure fix.

All good suggestions. One reason you can't just put all the addresses in and let the GPS sort is that it would take a HUGE amount of CPU time to do that. It doesn't sound complicated, but the GPS would have to sort through all possible combinations and routes.

.... except that some GPS's do exactly that (eg Streetpilot 2610). Not sure how many via points these units will sort but the Garmin example is for at least 5.
