Speed Cameras POIs in Europe A Collection of Links

With many people travelling frequently around Europe these days, so the GpsPasSion Team has compiled a list of useful links where you can download the position of fixed radars (or others). Generally the downloads are free, however some internet sites may require a fee. Feel free to post new links especially for those countries that do not contain any link for the moment. We will add them provided they refer to original databases that have not been copied from other sites.
Direct link: POIworld.com - For USA, use: POInUSA.com For France, use: POIenFrance.com
So far, we have links for the following countries: Germany, Austria, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Spain, Finland, France, Greece, England, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland. Some other countries can be found on sites that offer pan-European data.
-

Germany/ Switzerland / Austria / Netherlands . Radarfalle.de. You will be asked to pay a fee for this site. However, another version, Germany only, is freely available in the Google Earth format here. To convert this format for use with a GPS system (TomTom, POI-Warner, Destinator, Garmin, etc...) you can use PoiEdit. No information is provided on update frequency or position checking. Seems to provide some speedcam positions in Spain and Portugal.
Belgium . Database maintained by pmar in the GpsPasSion forums.
Gerald29 gave us this adress radars.bnet.be . Speed cameras are sorted by speed, registration is not required and the download is free.
Benelux . flitspaal.nl provides a good compilation where radars are sorted by speed. It only covers the 3 Benelux countries.
Spain-1 . At PuntoDeInteres.com , registration required and the download is free.
Spain-2 . This site PDI en Espana is under development, but usable. It should provide a list of radars as well as numerous POI's. Let's keep an eye on it.
Espagne-3 . This link Universalpoi was indicated by several members. (More details here : jeffy_95, athlonmp, lagon033.)
Spain-4. Petit-poucet indicated this site, pdis.es
Finland This link was given by Dr.pepper. Download two files : Triffidit_date.bmp and Triffidit_date.ov2
France Our well known Gpspassion Database is available at www.radarsenfrance.com , its dedicated Forum. This database is compiled with extreme care and comes in two versions: a Standard Version available to all registered members and a PLUS Version available to members who have contributed data to the database or who have joined the GpsPasSion Club. The stats for each database can be seen here. The database has been exclusively built using information provided by site members in the forums. The data is received, discussions ensue to fine tune the position and then it is archived for traceability, the data checked and re-checked, and finally updated regularly (about every 15 days for the plus version).
There two sorts of speedcams in the database, fixed ones and mobile ones, respective numbers being about 700 and 10,000 at 04/2006. We've found that the "foxy gentlemen" ofter use the same spots so it's been worthwhile been notified of such known spots in the spirit of information and caution on the road.
Greece. Available to Destinator, Igo my way plus, MioMap and Papago formats. A conversion will be possibly needed towards your own format.
Great Britain . This site, pocketgps.co.uk requires a fee (monthly or yearly).
Italy . This site, poigps.com, is free and requires a preliminary registration. The updates are frequent.
Portugal. This site, Omeugps, is free and requires a preliminary registration. It has been indicated by lune87.
Sweden: . This site, Poidatabase.se , was given by gorban, and boogieman indicated a direct link, and helped us for downloading from swedish language. On poidatabase.se/download.htm, go to the bottom of the first page, and choose your GPS system. This site is free.
Another link posit.se , in english, was indicated by kalleka. Access to this site is free, and no inscription is needed. Source of the speed cams database is poidatabase.se, as above.
Some other adresses are given by Barabas.
Switzerland. On GpsPasSion this list is being compiled by Trudide12.
Generic Sites : . PoiPlace : this site gives a list of radars for different countries. It is free and requires a preliminary registration. The updates are frequent; the accuracy of the data has not been checked by us and has been reported in the past as being pretty "varying". PoiHandler : it contains numerous free European POIs; the speedcams require a fee.
In Google Earth format, from SCDB site : thanks to jlb, for this tip. More than 18000 European speed cameras, covering 33 countries, are directly available. There is no guarantee as to the accuracy and completeness. To convert this format for use with a GPS system (TomTom, POI-Warner, Destinator, Garmin, etc...) you can use PoiEdit.

Ireland

Norway

Andorra

Denmark
Information : If you do not speak the language of the country where you will be travelling, it is not always easy to navigate around the different sites. Google's language tools can help by giving you an approximate translation. If you use Firefox navigator, Fox Lingo, is able to translate from any European language (thanks to alainbrokergps). For the countries that are missing, feel free to share any information you com across.
A WORD OF ADVICE: before travelling through a specific country, get the latest information on the legalities for the use of radar databases in that country; more generally check the regulations specific to the countries, fines can be very high!
Any questions ? Any comments ?

Must be tough living in France then ;-) Not sure where you got stuck exactly, but there are two versions yes, the standard one and the PLUS one that can be accessed if you particpate to the database or join the GpsPasSion Club.

Tell me about it. (the language barrier sucks:)
I tried accessing the website but everything is in french. Is there a website that is in english but still able to download the same POI?
How do I contribute to the GPS Passion club in order to download the PLUS version? By paying or do you mean to contribute to the database? (bearing in mind I don't really speak french. hahaha)

A couple of Swedish sites with POI's:
http://www.poidatabase.se/
Contains information and POI's regarding Swedish speed cameras. Free of charge. In Swedish only.
http://www.pois.se
General POI's in different categories such as hotels, dealers etc. You will have to pay a small amount for each category. In Swedish only.

Hi Popol2
Of course i can help you download the SWEDISH speed camera database. NOTE! Its only speed cameras for Sweden
1. Go to http://www.poidatabase.se/download.htm as indicated in the post above.
2. There you will find a list of the speed camera databases for different units. It looks like this Format Download POI - Nya Garmin MapSource formatet Hastighetskameror.gdb - Gamla Garmin MapSource formatet Hastighetskameror.mps - Garmin POI Loader speed_camera.zip
3. I think you get the rest but just to make sure. Richt click the link for your PDA/navigator unit and choose save as on a good place on yor PC.
4. Unzip the files to a good place.
5. Connect with i.e. active synch to your PDA/navigator
6. Copy the unzipped file in your catalouge on the PDA where you have your maps. In TomTom it is in my case \SD Card\Scandinavia_Plus-Map
7. Configure your new POIs in your device. In TomTom 5.21 you go to settings - POI handling? and then choose
8. POI On/Off and checkl all the new speed camera pois marked by speed signs 50, 70, 90, 110
9. Then choose "Alarm if near POI" and set the distance and sound you want for each speed camera. In the end you can choose to alarm only if you are on route which is preferable since otherwise (i guess) it will alarm if you are wiithin the radius of the POI)
Then you are done basically.
Good luck Boogieman
