The XOG uses a 2 GB flash-ROM device, not an SD card internally. The SD card doesn't seem to adversely affect the battery life. The 900 mAh battery is just too small for the amount of power being drawn by the XOG in my opinion. A 1500 mAh pack would only be a couple of mm thicker.

I did take the XOG "test-unit" apart and took some pictures. Dig around and you'll find them.

Yes - start a new topic and I'll clean this area up afterward.

New to the forum, have been running an IWay 500C for quite awhile. I was out of the country for a bit and have not updated the Navteq. I tried to get to the lei-extra page tonight and cannot get it to respond. Is that still the correct place to go?

Yep, that's the right place to go http://www.lei-extras.com but it's apparently down right now.

Great page. . just bought a 600C. Used a lot of GPS in the military. This unit is heavy, but seems to be built for stout. I look forward to using it a long time on my boat and truck. Although I like the unit very much, I was dissappointed to see that Lake Mead just outside of Vegas does not have underwater contours. I almost got bit by a hilltop underwater last year. I see the Lowrance Site has a western addition of some software that has Lake Mead data, but as you know there is no card reader to use the software?

Any suggestions anyone?

Unfortunately, Lowrance doesn't have any of their downloadable Enhanced Lake Maps for Lake Meade in Nevada. They do have a couple of others but not Lake Meade. In order to work on the iWay 00c, maps have to be "unlocked", not encoded and locked to SD cards as the purchased map sets are. This presents a data protection problem for the data provider so they frequently don't offer such maps for the iWay.

There are third-party maps available on SD card, as you say, but since the iWay 600c has no SD slot you cannot use them. The iWay 600c is based on the physical layout of the older iWay 500c so there was no room for an SD slot in the design. Lowrance's marine GPS-equipped chartplotters have sealed slots for mapping cards. If you want Lake Meade, you may have to either buy a dedicated marine unit or contact third-pary data providers to see if someone will be able to sell you a software-installable product containing Lake Meade.

I know of one iWay user bought a downloadable map set for Baja California a while back, so tere may be similar lakemaps available.

The iWay 250c has a "reset options" item on one of the tabs across the top of the "options" menu. Each tab shows another 6 menu items. When resetting the unit you have the choice of resetting all options to factory defaults and also to clear all the contacts in the address book. Each is a yes/no question. So if you only want to clear the address book, say NO to "reset all the options" and YES to "do you want to clear your address book". Well, the text may be slightly different, but you'll get the idea I hope.

Welcome to the wonderful world of GPS. I would suggest you ask a question by creating a new topic, rather than asking it in an existing topic which has nothing to do with the iWay 250c.

Hi All... New to the forum, have been running an XOG for a few weeks now. I purchased it for day trips on a motorcycle. I think I got a great deal at Walmarts $149, but it apprears to be an outdated version 1.6.0. Very happy with the XOG thus far and after reading through some of these messages low on the learning curve. I look forward to learning more about the device as well as sharing things I learn with others.
