Running 4.57 I have found that occasionally the application drops out and returns me to the Today Screen if I select TOOLS while navigation is running and connected to my Holux Supermouse.
It has happened at least 3 times today.
Is this a known bug?
I'll install the new version 4.58 anyway.

Hi, Jay,
We've had a mysterious tiny little silver of abrupt program terminations running through the beta thread, and so far we haven't got a handle on it or found anything in common among the folks finding it. I always want to ask (1) How many other processes/programs do you have running at the time? (2) Have you gone to Start -> Settings -> System -> Memory and stopped all other programs? (3) Where's your memory slider at and how much program and storage memory do you have?
Thanks,
Lamar

Generally, I clear down all other programs running so that Mapopolis is the only thing running (may have forgotten from time to time).
I have a 350-400 mile trip to make tomorrow so I see how thinks go and get back to you.
Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Update! I ran Mapopolis, making sure that all other programs had been fully terminated and it still dropped out during navigation when I tried to go into tools. This always result in total loss of your plotted route leaving you guideless if you are travelling along a motorway (highway) or busy dual carriage way with no safe opportunity to re-instate it.
I have since installed Pre6 and have a few mid to long distance trips coming up. I'll keep you posted.

Dunno what you've done but looks like you've cracked the application crash problem. Mapopolis didn't once drop. I'll keep testing and let you know.

Still repeatedly getting dropped out of the application. If I'm travelling along following my route and touch the screen, maybe to scroll down to see whats ahead quickly, or to go into the nav menu I'll get dumped out and lose my plotted route and have to reselect my route again from scratch. This is very annoying when travelling on motorways (Highways) or busy A Roads with nowhere to pull over and reset.
I have even tried to cut the number of maps loaded and deselected a number of the Major Roads maps to be sure of not running out of memory. I also make sure that whenever I run Mapopolis there are no other applications are running.
Also there is still many bugs in the routing where it will tell you that there is a possible U turn ahead on a major A road which is not and has not been present for a number of years, and it is still sending you past the correct filter lanes for taking a right turn across a busy road and telling you to take an illegal U turn a hundred yards after the centre reservation instead.
Local or previous knowledge help but when you are travelling through unknown areas this can be a real female dog :(

I'll try to record the memory slider/memory free available before travel and again at app dropout.

Jay, try using the debug version found here...
When it crashes, send the error log to mapopolis for further inspection, and possibly anything else that could clue them in the right direction. This way, your problem should get fixed a lot quicker. |
