It's BIG. 7.4 Gigabytes downloaded into my 500c It took 3.5 hours to upload into my iway. I used a Windows 7 computer, even though the label on the DVD said: "Software compatible with PC only, and requires Microsoft® Windows® 2000, XP to run."
I have a couple of screen shots of the files on the DVD

and the Data directory

I am guessing they don't plan on selling enough DVDs to make a pressed DVD, I got a burned DVD. |

And what mapping and software versions display on your iWay following the update?
Thanks. |

driving around today, it still missed 1 change here, the new traffic circle @ MD258 and MD256. But just down the road, new subdivision, the streets are there. and they were built after the circle.
Sorry, I am in Maryland. I am going to look at what is near me first for updates |

Great news. If you examine those XML files you'll see which files are copied for each model. The installer reads the model ID from the iWay and makes the decision on which XML file to follow for the update. Yours, being the truck version of the iWay 500c, does the 500c_PACCAR installation script.
As to the new rotary being missed, join the club. This is common as it's up to the town, county or state to update their GIS system before NavTeq will ever know about it. Their 'elves' probably haven't gotten to that rotary yet but the new development nearby was properly entered in the GIS database by the developer (not being a public-servant) so it appears without an 'elf' visit. (I call the map survey car drivers Garmin's elves). |

| Couple of questions. I have 500c with Software version 1.8.0 and 07 map. I use it in my car and my Freightliner motorhome (not Kenworth or Peterbilt). Will the software work in my situation? Will Pana-Pacific sell it to me? |

| another question, sorry for the brain freeze from someone not that computer system savvy. Since the POI's are not updated will the old ones stay on my 500c after update or will I lose the poi's? Perhaps the CD has the old POI's on the cd and they replace the existing old ones? |

| I would not expect it to touch your current POIs since it shouldn't have any on the DVD. It may cause you to lose your address book, however, so it's always good practice to save a copy using the transfer data menu (just in case) before doing the update. |

Hi
A friend of mine ordered this DVD and had me help him install it on his iWay 500c.
It was an 11 hour install but it was successful.
When we took a look at the Nav Mode option and selected Straight line (A - B) and selected the Nautical option all his Marine contour lines were missing. They were there in the Q3-07 version.
There were numbers all over the screen indication depths I imagine but no Contour lines or Tide tables or current speed/direction like there was in the Q3-07 version.
We saw the Files get loaded in.. did we do something wrong?
Any Suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

With the older maps, you have the choice of inland (freshwater) or off-shore (saltwater) charts - did you see two choices? Maybe it's possible you were looking for offshore chart data and they now only supply the inland data?
Can you get us any screen shots of the map choice screens so that we can compare?

I don't remember the 500c having marine charts. The 600c does, but for the life of me I can't remember seeing it on the 500c with its smaller hard drive.
Going to straight-line mode should enable by default the TIGER map set as opposed to the NavTeq turn by turn maps but I don't recall the 500c ever having topo lines. |

Hi
I saw the marine info on my friends 500c. When we used it up here on Lake Superior and St Mary's River you could see all the channel markings a dotted lines with their depth numbers. Plus when we checked the west coast out bt Vancouver you would see the Tide markers and when you tapped on it you would see the small chart of levels. Also the current indicators were there too with an arrow outline with the speed and direction.
But now We just have the numbers for depth.
I can't get you a picture.. I'll check the web for any from an iway 500c.
Thanks
Ken

| Yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember vaguely the 500c having the full nautical data. I also remember the 600c losing the topo lines in one of the updates (but not in the marine data). Sounds like something 'happened' to either the data or the upgrade process. Might want to contact either Lowrance or the PACCAR dealer's network. Might be an issue getting something like this fixed due to Lowrance's abandonment of the product though. |

Yes, the 500c included the Marine maps as of the Q1-06 map update.
I wonder if they might have stripped one or more of these out of the PACCAR update?
Has anyone else installed the update that can verify this? |

A couple of questions: 1) What was the cost of the update? 2) Will this allow the 500C to use TourGuides like the Garmin's and other units with MP3 capability? |
