Here's my situation.
My vehicle had been customized way back in 2000 with 6.5 screen in the console, apline nve 852 dvd rom gps under the passenger seat.

If you aren't familiar with this setup, basically the unit outputs the gps video to a monitor, kinda like a dvd player and a tv.

Latest disc is 2005 and that's getting pretty old, besides the system has been a bit shady lately.

Alpine has a newer remote mount unit, but cost is ridiculous, certainly not worth $1200.

Is there anything else out there at a reasonable price?
What is the technical name for systems similar? not sure exactly what to search for.

I don't like clutter and in this particular vehicle i don't want a regular gps to get plunged to the window or dash.

So far the only option i see is getting a head unit with it built in, but that leaves me removing a head unit i like, that is connected to a pretty elaborate stereo setup (non powered head unit).

Any input?
thanks,
Joe
