Navi Navi 3507 from http://www2.shopxscargo.com/product_catalogue/cat_product_details.asp?category_id=6&product_code=24662&sub_category_1_id=12&category=GPS . I saw it in the store here, and played with it for a little bit. It has the specs and appearance exactly as the Nextar MN2707, but the software is different, the boot screen different, and the set up menu different (I didn't test MP3 app though). It runs InfoGation Odyssey version 5 , which I cannot find anywhere on Google about it (Version 4 is out for the PocketPC market and I have very old version on my Clarion AutoPC)a. A very strange thing, and it is not the Navi Navi mentioned on the internet which was a rebranded left over stock of the old MN2607 with 20GB HDD. This one has 40GB HDD and specs seems to match the same. The box looks different in colour, but similar in material, so even packaging should be from the same source.
It's $200. CAD in the store, but I'm too scared to buy one as XSCargo has no return policy. |

I suspect that Navi Navi somehow grabbed the remaining stock of the Nextar MN2707 (or P7), but contracted InfoGation to port their Odyssey to this unit for them. Even though Odyssey might not win any prizes, but basically anything is better than the stock MN2707 navigation application.
What is interestingly missing in the Settings screen are other items. I saw a window with 2 buttons: calibration (touch screen) and brightness.
Another interesting found is that I can exit the navigation app in some menu screen inside the Odyssey app, and then get a blank screen. I have to power cycle to restore the unit.
Powering on after that gets prompted a little more (legalese screen etc) than other times, however, these screens do not look like the MN2707.
The look and feel of the Odyssey is very different than the MN2707. The roads are shown with thick stripes (width) here, rather than a thin line on MN2707. They layout is much more real estate efficient, unlike the haphazard style on MN2707 (which is so amaterish). I haven't tried Odyssey 4 so I can't compare, but I'll do some read up on Odyssey 4 here to see if they look similar.
If you are close to any XSCargo you can go in to take a look. If you are lucky, you can play w/ it (this one store has it locked behind a metal cage, but placed close enough so I can touch the screen and buttons, on Grandview Hwy in Vancouver).
I'm not recommending this unit (yet) because of the quality issues from the Nextar MN2707 (and 2607) (see big threads there), because the warranty is only 30 days, and so it is quite a risk to take. I'm posting this mainly for academic interest.
If anyone has more info, please share. |

Hi David
I picked one up this weekend. It's an interesting unit. The voice guidance and navigation seem pretty good but the interface is a bit clunky. It also doesn't seem to have much support for the grid roads in Saskatchewan though. That will be a problem using it with our balloon chases.
I did find out that the GPS puts our 3.3v TTL NMEA data at 9600 baud. It's pretty easy to convert that to standard RS-232. That will be handy with my APRS setup.
My next step is to figure out what, if anything is supported by the USB host port.

Hi VE5BNC,
We have found out that the ones we have MN2707, is a SiRF III module (very different than the old MN2607, which was a disaster), connected by wires to the main board. I would have guessed that this is the same hardware too.
There are some hacks on the MN2607 and MN2707 at this site, so you can read more to see if they apply or not. People have connected many things to the USB host port, including WiFi adapter, ethernet adapter, keyboard, and USB-serial adapter etc.

| Although I have since bought a new GPS, I still have one of the old Nextar MN2707's. Has anyone tried updating the MN2707 with the Navi Navi 3507 software? Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is possible? I was looking at the 3507 at XSCargo and it looks identical to my MN2707. |

| I think bcoates said that it has different OS in the firmware which is in the FlashROM, and it runs embedded Windows CE.net, and thus is incompatible with the MN2707 (or similar models that are Linux based). Until there is a way to flash the FlashROM (and dump them), then there is no way to make one the other. Too bad, but close but no cigar, as they say. |

| I just got a navi navi 3705 ($149, at XScargo) seems to work okay for the GPS part, but the MP3 player sucks. For some reason it kills the bass, unlike my Laptop or MP3 player when connected to my vans sound system. The map data base is also out of date, and I am not crazy about how you enter the destination data. I tried today to find Middleport Ontario, located on the Six Nations Indian reserve, and it would not find it. I am used to Streets & Trips 2009, Tried it on my laptop and it would not find the reserve, but would find Middleport. I also found that the harddisk is partitioned into smaller drives, looks like two or more at about 10 GB each |

We got a Navi Navi 3507 (40GB 7" screen) for Christmas. We live in Central Ontario and are having problems with the unit working properly. The maps all work but the GPS has no signal or no device. Nothing we have tried in changing the GPS settings helps. Does this unit require a monthly fee?? We have also found that there is no support phone number or website address in any of the documentation in the box. Any help or response would be welcome. |

I had the same problem with my unit, but when I mounted in my van it picked up 4 satellites and started to work. I also could not figure out what the default settings for the reciever are, but it would seem that com1 @ 4800 baud is the right setting, unless the unit actally ignoring these settings, they may be for an external GPS reciever, I did try the GPS/USB receiver that came with my Streets and trips, and it did nothing. But I know have used it 3 times and it has worked every time. Have you tried the unit outdoors? It seems to be easily blocked.

| Has any one actually figured out if these units really do have a 40 GB hard drive? When I connect the mini usb to my computer, Windows sees the 3507 as E:\Odessey, but the only way I can accses the drive is to use the explore command, when I tried double clicking as with other removable drives like my flash drive, I get a message to confiuge windows for the device. Windows showes the drive to be about 10 GB, and I cannot see any other drive. Where is the other 30GB? |

Thank you so much for you responce trdtech :~) Yes we had our unit out in the vehicle 3-4 times yesterday with no success. But we did actually get our Navi 3507 working late last night. We are using GPS settings of Com 1 and Baud 9600 (although we have no idea what a baud even is!! LoL) with auto-detect off. We used the GPS 3 times today to different destinations... passing by some of the turns it told us to take, just to see if it would actually recalculate the trip.... it worked great! We have no real complaints now, except that fact that there seem to be very little customer service support for the unit itself. Getting back to the no signal on the GPS system... we spoke with others, both Christmas day and Boxing day (we all live in a 10 mile radius) one has a tomtom and the other a navgation, both were having problems with their gps systems working! Wondering if it was a satelite glitch?!
