Well I've had lots of 25-28 EPE and multi-ball signals over the last couple of weeks, so there should have been plenty of opportunity to update the almanac. I've hard rebooted with no luck. Do I need to reload 1.7.0? This seems like a bug to me.
It's been a bit since I've had my unit turned on (a week or so), but yesterday I did turn it on and the almanac came up correct (8-12-2008). So, not sure what the bad date previously was all about. Maybe not a "bug" technically but not good software behavior, either. |

It's unlikely to be a bug (though not impossible) when two or more other XOGs with the same software do not experience the problem.
Things you can try:
Reboot with hard-reset hidden button (you've already tried this)
Reset everything to factory defaults with the "reset options" menu
Remove the rear cover and unplug the battery pack connector for several minutes then plug it back in.
Reload 1.7.0 software
Unfortunately, nobody can tell you which if any of these things will fix your XOG. Best of luck. |

New XOG - came with 1.4, updated to 1.7.0
Bug in displaying audio information - two parts: 1. When Song Name and/or Song Artist are added to the Overlay Data on the map, they do not display. If I remove the check from "Hide when Invalid" the boxes are there, but blank. This was observed WHILE I had the same two fields displayed and working in the Music screen (see part 2 below), so the music file DOES have the required information. Album name is also blank on the map screen, but Elapsed Time does show correctly if enabled.
2. When Song Name and Song Artist were first enabled as Overlay Data in the Music screen they displayed fine as concatenated fields scrolling back and forth in one box on the bottom right side of the screen. I later went back to the Overlay Data screen to remove the Song Name and add Album. After I made this change, NONE of the Song Name, Song Artist or Album data fields will display in the Music screen, even when playing the same song that originally displayed two of the fields. Elapsed time does display fine in the Music screen if enabled.
I have changed SD cards, rebooted, and reset the XOG without effect on this bug. |

Not sure what's happening AND this doesn't happen every single time, but does quite often. Tapped "Find" then went to Page 2 and tapped "Search All POIs By Name"--it finished "calculating nearest" POIs---Tapped "Find By" in lower left corner and got a choice of three options---Tapped "Name Entry" and got an error message "No map with the required data." The other two options appear to function properly. Is something wrong with the unit or is something wrong with my understanding of how these things work?? BTW, ST-BOB----I add my appreciation for all the effort you put into this Forum!! There are quite a few others here, also, that deserve a lot of thanks!!

| I purchased a XOG in Feb 2009 and when I accessed MapSelect as instructed, I never got the registration prompt. I contacted Lowrance, and they told me I have one of those units with duplicate serial numbers, and the only way to fix it was to send it in to get a new serial number installed in the flash memory. So there are still a few out there... |

| Must be old stock. That was from the first production run from overseas where they all had identical internal IDs. My evaluation unit was one of those too. There was supposed to be a software update that randomized the internal unit ID number, but the programmer's weren't as smart as they thought they were and several pulled duplicates out of thin air apparently. |

| Expect around November/December from what I've heard. Apparently they've found a few bugs which need working out internally before building the final database. |

Not a bug, but a feature. In road-going mode the XOG uses "snap to roads" to keep the cursor on the nearest road. The apparent 'error' is likely due to either map registration errors (most common) or GPS accuracy drift due to obstructions, topography or atmospheric effects on the satellite signal. GPS without SA turned on is supposed to be within 10 meters 95% of the time in good-signal conditions. This looks like it's well within 10 meters...
Map registration errors which occur during digitizing paper maps have no specified accuracy in the GPS spec. GPS is only designed to give you your position; moving maps are not part of the "GPS" accuracy at all but are much more prone to suffer from human error. |
