"The final release of Mobile XT for Windows Mobile/PPC is version 4.00.20wp. The software looks pretty much like the latest beta did, but appears to be much more stable in my brief experience with it so far."

There's no way the WM6 version would work on WP7, completely different beast. Last I checked Garmin hadn't released a WP7 version.

I am just wondering if anybody here has tried Garmin Mobile XT on one of the newer Windows Mobile 7 smartphones? I did a Google search on this and I see the question has been asked, but nobody had the definitive answer. (I think one guy thought the poster was asking about Windows 7 rather than Windows Mobile 7!)[/u]

I used the Phone Finder feature again from Phone Scoop and narrowed by:

-CDMA

-GPS

-MicroSD

-Touch Screen

-Windows Mobile

That gives me the following choices:

HTC Imagio

HTC Mogul/XV6800/PPC6800/P4000

HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900

HTC Touch Diamond (CDMA)

HTC Touch Pro (CDMA)

HTC Touch Pro2

LG Fathom

Palm Treo 800w

Palm Treo Pro (CDMA)

Samsung Intrepid SPH-i350

Samsung Omnia i910

Samsung Omnia II (CDMA)

Samsung Saga i770

Samsung SCH-i760

I used the Phone Finder feature again from Phone Scoop and narrowed by:

-CDMA

-GPS

-MicroSD

-Touch Screen

-Android Operating System

That gives me the following nine choices:

HTC Droid Eris

HTC Droid Incredible

HTC EVO 4G

HTC Hero (CDMA)

Kyocera Zio M6000

LG Ally

Motorola Devour

Motorola Droid

Samsung Moment

But now that I think about it, I am not sure is Garmin Mobile XT will work with the Android Operating System. Perhaps it will work with Windows Mobile, but not Android Operating System. I also can't tell is these units would allow Garmin Mobile XT to access GPS data or is it is somehow restricted.

What models are you looking at? I'm guessing any recent WM smartphone would work.

I am in the market for an additional CDMA smartphone (new or used) that will work with Garmin Mobile XT. It looks like Garmin has removed Garmin Mobile XT information. Does anybody happen to know what CDMA smartphones will work with Garmin Mobile XT?

Also, I seem to recall back when that Verizon disabled the ability to use GPS data from their phones. Does anybody happen to know if that can be re-enabled or should I focus on a Sprint smartphone?

Okay, this is a pretty old thread, but I installed my Garmin Mobile XT on a friends HTC Tilt last night. I did notice a few differences with this on his Tilt vs. my Pharos GPS Phone 600. Anyway, since it seems as if the Garmin Mobile XT line has been dropped, is the On Course Navigator (OCN 8) one of the better choices with (hopefully) newer maps? (Although I don't actually see the Tilt on OCNs list of supported devices!)

Can't see how that could be done, no, you'd need a TV-Out cable for your PDA (I have one for my iPhone) and Video-In on your netbook.
Jim1348 Posted - 25 févr. 2010 : 04:20:08
I am wondering if there is a way to connect my netbook to a smartphone running Garmin Mobile XT and have it display on the netbook what is on the smartphone? That might be handy for traveling when I am running Garmin Mobile XT and would allow my wife to view the same information on the bigger screen on the netbook.

That is a good point. I will go post it there.

Interesting question but you should post it in the nuvifone topic I think.
Jim1348 Posted - 03 janv. 2010 : 17:53:52
My family and I are making plans for a trip to Floridea soon and I would like to have more current maps than what are on my Garmin Mobile XT micro SD card. I am now considering buying a Garmin Nuvifone G60. I am just wondering if anybody here that has used both Garmin Mobile XT and the Garmin Nuvifone G60 can compare and contrast the differences between the two for me. I do know that the Garmin Nuvifone G60 has added spoken street names, other than that they look pretty similar.

There is a YouTube video posted recently entitled, "Garmin Mobile XT - How to Change Car Icon".

I don't know if you got your Pharos GPS Phone 600 working with Garmin Mobile XT yet, but I just looked at my GPS Settings on the phone and they are:

-GPS Program Port: COM2

-GPS Hardware Port: COM4

-Baud Rate: 57600

Plus, under the Access Tab I have checked the box Manage GPS automatically (recommended)

On the Garmin Mobile XT software the circle is filled in for:

-Use GPS Intermediate Driver

I don't know if these are the only settings that will work, but they work for me.
