Posted - 17 déc. 2010 : 03:29:26 Hi was wondering how I would be able to get or activate the base map in MapSource. I have a copy of the software that I was able to open up given some instructions on the internet. its fully functional other then it has no maps. Good for adding and editing points. Thank you |

Posted - 20 janv. 2009 : 01:16:42 So has anyone come up with an answer to BobM's question? I'm experiencing the same problem. I reformatted my computer and am cleaning-up files. I'm trying to update my POI's and see them in Mapsource but can't seem to create a new file. I can pull up an old file I made with a bunch of POIs I get through these forums, but now that I have updated those POIs with the latest revisions I can't get Mapsource to accept them. |

Does anyone know how the "Save to Mapsource" option in the new POI Loader 2.5.2.0 works? I tried it several times, using CSV, GPX, and GPI files. The CSV and GPX files seem to work, but POI Loader didn't say where the new file would be stored and I'd can't find it on the PC. When I use a GPI file as input, I get an error message saying "No dat files found. There must be at least one CSV or GPX file".
This is a bit confusing as a GPX will load into Mapsource without running POI Loader. I can see it would be useful to convert a CSV to GPX (but there are already ways to do that). I cannot figure out what the option is supposed to do.
Anyone get it to work properly?

If you want to extract the POI's from a GPI file, use GPS Babel (GPSBabelGUI.exe rather than GPSBabel.exe). Select "Garmin Points of Interest (.gpi) as the Input Format, and GPX/XML as the output format. Check "Waypoints" in the "What?" section and you'll be able to load the finished file in Mapsource.

Posted - 07 mai 2008 : 23:29:22 MapSource can't read Custom POIs (ie .GPI) files despite that option in the most recent version of POI Loader. If you want to see your Custom POIs in MapSource, you will need to convert the files to GPX files and then open them in MapSource. |

The installation goes without any errors, but when i start Map Source and do a serach fo these new POI's they do not show up. I tried the same thing with teh In-N-Out POI file and get the same results, Mapsource does not find the new POI's. Am i doing somting wrong during installaiton or what? Can anyone help me.

Posted - 10 avr. 2008 : 11:45:08 Welcome to the forums. Actually there is, the system recognizes all *.gpi files, so just rename the poi.gpi file that gets sent by the POI-Loader to XYZ.gpi and it will be kept the next time you add POIs. |

Posted - 10 avr. 2008 : 05:55:55 So there is no way to keep the POI's previously uploaded intact & add new ones on the GPS. I had a system crash & lost some old files... Is there a way we can kind of reverse the process and download POI's from a GPS... |

Got your email but it appears you forgot to attach the file.

Posted - 23 avr. 2007 : 15:26:36 POI Loader Beta 2.4.0.0 has a screen which asks you select if you want to add new custom POIs or remove existing ones - I've no idea why Garmin removed this screen. They also removed the Help file from the installation package so that's really dumb.
I'll e-mail their Tech Support to find out more.
I've e-mailed the 2.4.0.0 to those requesting it.

Posted - 23 avr. 2007 : 05:57:05 Hi Bob would you mind sending me the old V2.4.0.0 beta also? I'm trying to delete the POI menu off my C320 for like over a year and have been unsuccessful. I sent you an e-mail. Thanks

Posted - 23 avr. 2007 : 03:04:22 Others seem to have the same problem - try using Beta V2.4.0.0 instead of the newer 2.4.0.1
If you don't have it, e-mail me (bob AT morphew DOT ca) and I'll send it to you (8.9MB).

I thought it should be noted in this topic that the POI Loader 2.4.0 beta version now supports deletion of POI's from a GPS device.
Here is the link for POI Loader 2.4.0 beta... http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1673
Hope this helps!
I've got the latest beta version loaded. Can you point me to this option. I sure can't see any place where this is even mentioned. I also notice that HELP doesn't work. Something I did or is it just not fixed yet?? |
