Posted - 14 déc. 2007 : 03:02:01 *** Teaser video for modded Magellan Maestro 4040 *** *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLhkCxBkGfo ***
I think it is safe to say that most of techniques that have been discovered and shared in the past few weeks do work across entire Magellan Maestro line (the one with blue background and pretty icons).
With that in mind, I believe it is time to change name of the thread to "Unlocking Magellan Maestro series". This way we can cover more ground and attract more enthusiasts to join in.
Bla Bla Bla, but what has been done so far? Here it goes.
by humbletim Website: http://dedischew.net/softbutton/ Thread: This thread
SoftButton serves as a basic application and task manager component for Windows CE devices. It is especially suited for platforms lacking a system shell, keyboard, or hardware buttons.
This button is used to switch between Navigator.exe, TCPMP, FileManCE or any other app that you could be running on Maestro GPS device.
This is still BETA so any feedback posted here would be greatly appreciated.

Fresh install of 2.36 release 3 Map placement optimization
Also, M2Launch and humbletim are potenialy on board to create a launcher program for starting Navigator, File Manager or TCPMC player. It would be way cool to see them chime in sometime soon.
If I missed anyone's achievement or someone want to share a trick or two please do not feel shy and jump right in.
Thank you all for trying to make "Maestro" worth its name. |

Posted - 03 janv. 2011 : 03:25:22 Hey Folks, I've been playing with my Magellan Maestro 4040 for about two years now and finally found xtyler91#8242;s universal unlock. I found it at: http://www.gpsfiles.info/2010/09/xtyler91s-universal-sd-unlock-4/ Pretty simple unlock and works well on my unit. I have ran all kinds of third party software from it and all have worked fine. Very simple to use as sdfree and does not take up a lot of memory. It's pretty easy to setup custom menu's and add delete etc. by just editing the mainpage.ini file. I didn't need a complete computer on my GPS like MioPocket MioPocket lite etc. Fine programs but not right for my needs. I used soft button initially to unlock went to miopocket for the sdhc unlock. I just ordered a 4250 from ebay so I could use the Magellan Maestro 42xx - Rom Cooking sdhc fix I found there. Thanks to all - for the wonderful information and hard work people have posted on this Forum.

Posted - 17 déc. 2010 : 01:15:01 Hi, Was hoping someone with a 3140 can post or send me the index.mct file from the map folder. Accidentally over wrote it with the wrong file.

Posted - 30 nov. 2010 : 01:32:07 Hello, I was wondering if there was anyone that could help me with my Magellan Roadmade 1200? I was trying to install MioPocket into it and inadvertently deleted the program files out of the GPS unit's internal memory (stupid mistake, I moved the USB cable and it disconnected before I could put the files back in it). Now the unit won't even register when I plug the USB cable into it. Is there anything I can do to open it up so I can reinstall the files ( I still have them backed up in my computer). Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Also, has anyone tried this on a 3250 and does it work? I tried finding the 3250 unbrick instructions but this is the closest thing I found.

Unbricked my Magellan Maestro 3225, full functional now. Here is the howto tutorial !!!
Like many of you, I changed the Magellan Maestro 3225 splash screen and bricked my unit. A bricked unit only shows the Magellan logo on startup and then stops. I also reformatted my internal TFAT HDD flash drive and lost everything. Even though I created a full backup of my GPS's internal TFAT drive onto my PC, it was useless.
After doing some serious research, I was able to create a workaround that allows me to use the 3225 as a full functioning GPS unit, play most popular audio/video files. I also installed MioPocket 2.0 Release 39 on it which can open MS Word, Excel, Acrobat and many other popular file formats and play games.
I was able run softbutton and mgnshell.exe both from the SD card which started the USB interface and then my PC recognized the GPS's TFAT drive. However, the TFAT drive loses all copied information once you restart the unit. The following has been verified on my Magellan Maestro 3225 unit but should work on all 32xx models. Use the following at your own risk.
If you have not formatted your flash HDD (internal TFAT drive), and you have a backup of your GPS's internal TFAT drive, there is a very easy way to revive your unit. Follow these steps:
1. Using the backup you have on your PC, copy the original files that you have modified onto your SD card.
2. Copy softbutton, FileManCE, the DLLs and the ini files on your SD card's root from this download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0LUIG0FZ
3. Restart the 3225 with the SD card in the SD card slot, let everything load.
4. By running FileManCE, copy the original files from the SDMMC CARD back to their original directories under HDD and replace the files you have modified. Your GPS's TFAT internal flash drive shows up as the HDD folder in FileManCE.
5. Remove the SD card, click the reset button on the left side of the unit using a paper clip to restart the GPS. You have unbricked your 3225 !!!
If you are like me, formatted your 3225's internal flash HDD drive by pressing the reset button on the left and the on/off button on the right simultaneously for 10 seconds which started the bootloader then selecting the format option which bricked your GPS, use the following steps to unbrick your 3225 GPS unit.
1. Get a SD card that is 1 gig or larger and format it using FAT32. Charge your GPS fully.
2. Download this file and unzip it to the root of the SD card. Download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E921GB6X
3. Copy a few small DIVX, XVID, MPEG4, JPG, MP3, WMA, WMV files to the root of the SD card.
4. Download TCPMP aka HPC GNU MEDIA PLAYER and unzip everything at the root of the SD card, name the folder HPC MEDIA PLAYER. It plays almost all popular audio and video files including DIVX, XVID, MP4, MP3, YouTube flash FLV, MP3, WMA, WMV, MPG. Download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8BFP7T2N
5. Download Destinator 8 GPS application and the maps of your area. I found maps of almost every country in the world. Unzip everything under the DESTINATOR folder which resides at the root of the SD card. Replace the original \Destinator\UserData\GPSTMC.ini file with the one below. Unzip the maps under the DESTINATOR folder. It is alright to have map sub-folder names like SOUTH (AR LA MS OK TX). Destinator 8 application and ini file patch download links: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IQEFTI26 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KJW55J0T Maps download links: USA Roads (45 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VFGR5XIJ Southeast (108 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XMJ7TIKI South (96 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZKD808ME Mountain (62 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QTCV2W21 Midwest (105 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DDNSX2JC Pacific (82 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M8FE8CMQ East Central (86 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A7LE1J1Y Mid Atlantic (64 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WBZZ5WPN Northeast (65 MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PSU6WKKI Canada (57 MB) http://rapidshare.com/files/179247947/Canada.rar
6. After unzipping everything, on the SD card's root you should have Filemance.exe, softbutton.exe, 10 DLL files and 1 ini and 1 inf file. You should also have 2 folders at the root of the SD card. These 2 folders are HPC MEDIA PLAYER and DESTINATOR.
7. Under the DESTINATOR folder of the SD card, you should have the map sub-folders such as USAROADS and SOUTH (AR LA MS OK TX) and other sub-folders such as LANGUAGE, SKIN, USERDATA, VOICE along with the destinator.exe file and helper DLL and ini files.
8. Under the HPC MEDIA PLAYER folder of the SD card, you should have about 41 files.
9. Now restart the 3225 GPS unit with the SD card in the card slot. Let everything load. You will get a little popup from softbutton stating that 3 applications are about to automatically start. HPC Media Player, FileManCE and Destinator are going to start automatically. You can close FileManCE if you do not use it.
10. The softbutton will create a blue icon that will stay on top. Destinator8 will need a minute to lock atleast 4 satellites before it automatically shows your current location on planet earth. The female voice will prompt you. Use the demo function in Destinator8 to check out the features. You can switch, run or kill applications using softbutton. Load a audio/video file on the TCPMP aka HPC media player.
11. You have successfully unbricked the Magellan Maestro 3225 unit. I do not deserve any credit. This is just a compilation of stuff I have gathered from many different sites.

I have maestro 4370, but I don't want to use the FM transmitter feature. Is there a way (hardware) to convert that to audio output, so I can connect it to Aux input of my CD player. Thanks for your help. |
