Posted - 16 janv. 2006 : 15:35:46 Hey everybody,
Figured I'd start a thread where people can post their reviews and questions on the 2730. I'm looking at this one pretty heavily, and I'm assuming others are too. Thanks for any contributions you have to help those of us out before we drop large bills on something like this. :)

"Thank you for contacting Garmin International,
Unfortunately this is not an item that can be changed. Our engineers are always working harder to improve our units. Please watch the link below for more information on new products. Thanks again."

Posted - 03 oct. 2007 : 04:52:34 I would like to increase the number of Recent Finds that my Garmin Street Pilot 2730 saves. I have been scouring the web and the manual, but I cannot seem to locate how to change that. Does anybody know how to increase the number of Recent Finds? |

Posted - 30 sept. 2007 : 20:38:20 I have had my Garmin StreetPilot 2730 for about a year now and I loaded up a number of POIs. Most of them from POI Factory, but some that I created. What is the maximum number of POIs that I can put on this? I realize that it isn't probably a finite number, but how do I tell if I have used say 10% or 50% or 75% of the memory? The reason that I ask is becasue I am thinking about putping in a bunch more, but knowing how much capacity I have will help me select which POIs to select. |

I realize that the house numbers have to be accurate on the Maps that are loaded into it if the 2730 is going to spit out the address more accurately.

Yup .. it's a map issue, not a flaw with your 2730.

Posted - 16 mai 2007 : 19:40:02 Yes. 010-00423-00 GARMIN GXM30 XM smart antenna (includes flange mnt, USB ext. cable) requires subscription-- $210.00
Note the description "smart antenna" - it is also the XM receiver for the gps.
I never used XM traffic - just XM radio for a year and decided that was not worth it to me. I could probably part with mine.

Posted - 16 mai 2007 : 18:51:29 Resurrecting this thread. If I were to get an XM NavTraffic capable GPS unit and already have an XM Car Radio, would I need an additional antenna? Nasty, you provided a good advantage of using XM as opposed to FM. |

I realize that the house numbers have to be accurate on the Maps that are loaded into it if the 2730 is going to spit out the address more accurately.
And based on that, I don't expect anything near perfection since I have had experience with the maps being pretty far off in some cases.
If you had an actual Lat & Long. for the house, it would probably put you in the driveway.

Posted - 10 mai 2007 : 13:55:33 I don't know the name of that feature, or if there is one. It's not noted in the manual, but Garmin does not write the most informative consumer friendly manuals. As you point out it only approximates the address location and in some cases will be totally wrong when map data is wrong. So you need to be careful when relying on it. On my street house number data is bassackwards - I have a low number and the map shows it as a high number. But I can tell you it does not exist on the nuvi 680 and my guess is it went the way of the Do-Do bird on all of the nuvi models. Compared to my 2730 I am pretty disappointed with the 680 I just got 2 weeks ago. They really "dumbed" it down. So far, IMHO, the only real positive aspects of the 680 is the overall size, screen readability and internal battery. It does not even have the QWERTY keyboard option that they just gave us for the 2730 and it is a discontinued model. I miss my remote too.

Posted - 10 mai 2007 : 06:17:05 When I drive down a street my Garmin Street Pilot 2730 approximates the house numbers of the street that I am on. I like that feature, but I do not know the name of the feature. Does anybody know the name of that feature so that I can make sure my next Garmin also has that feature?
Does the Garmin Nuvi 650 do that, for example? |

Posted - 05 mai 2007 : 19:32:16 I have had a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 since last year. Ihave dowloaded quite a few Custom POIs and now I am wondering how the memory is partitioned. Is it hard partitioned or soft partitioned. For example, if I have a number of Custom POIs downloaded, does that reduce the amount of memory available for saving routes? Or is each area a separate amount of memory. Also, can routes be exchanged with other users? For example, say there was a scenic route through northern Minnesota, can I somehow send that, like we do Custom POIs, to other users? Also, is there a limit of 50 different routes than can be saved on the 2730? If so, is that regardless of the number of stops on the route? |

Posted - 01 mai 2007 : 00:53:29 Does anybody know whether the Garmin Street Pilot 2730 is capable of Customized Waypoint Symbols? I know that I have them for Custom POIs, but when I am connected to xImage to try to Get Images from the GPS(2730) for Image Type I have choices of either Screen Shot or Splash Screen, but no Waypoint Symbol choice. When I select Send Images to the GPS I only m offered Splash Screen, but no Waypoint Symbol choice. I also read a review of the 2820 that indicated that it is NOT capable of Customized Waypoint Symbols, but I still haven't determined if the 2730 is capable of this or not.
