I'm essentially looking for location based reminders.
eg. I need to remember to grab something from work, my phone reminds me when I actually get there.

Posted - 09 juin 2008 : 17:24:45 I agree it's a good idea for an app, keep in mind that the GPS would need to be turned on at all times for this to work though and that will mean reduced battery life, think 3/4 hours : http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/articles.asp?id=237&page=2
Since accuracy is not of the essence you might be better off finding an app that does that with GSM signals, a bit like Google Map Mobile's positioning.
I do seem to recall a recent press release by an app doing what you're looking for, not sure if ti was GPS or GSM based though.

Posted - 09 juin 2008 : 08:36:22 Thanks for the reply. Benn lurking here for a while, mainly on the Mio forums. I should get my Titan in a few days and am looking into the new world of having a GPS device in my pocket with a high speed data connection.
I have NoniGPS on my MIO 310, and while its a great program, it's a little much for just some simple alarms.
Maybe I'm alone in looking for a feature like this but I can't imagine that others wouldn't at least find it occasionally handy.
I think I will e-mail the GPSToday developer and see if he might be interested in the idea. I think it would work well with the battery conservation features built into his program.
Anyway, thanks for the reply and if anyone else is interested in something like this, leave a reply. Maybe someone with the knowledge to make it happen will take notice.

Posted - 09 juin 2008 : 03:59:52 Welcome to the forums. Interesting idea, I haven't seen this "pushed" as a feature but you could certainl achieve that with the proximity alarms of most navigation or off-road programs. Take a look at NoniGPS, it's free -> http://www.gpspassion.com/FORUMSEN/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69887
